Family Home Evening
Family Home Evening
Ammon was a missionary serving Lamanites, tending King Lamoni's sheep for several days and nights. Robbers came he saved the sheep by fighting fearlessly, he was true and he fought righteously! Ammon is comforting the weeping shepherd after the flocks have been scattered and he is awaiting King Lamoni to order his death.

The Lights at Temple Square
This Saturday our little family headed off to Salt Lake City to see the lights at Temple Square. It was cold but not too bad. I should say for the Iowa girl it wasn't bad. The Phoenix boy was wishing that he could be Malia and get the comfy, warm ride. We ran into a few families from Lewiston and they took this picture for us. The lights were beautiful. Check out the Mata blog to see more pics!

The Terry Sisters
L to R- Virginia Terry, Naomi Hesterman, Jennette Terry, Velma Terry, and Genevieve Lougee
I got this picture from Naomi's son, Bryce, when we had Thanksgiving at Velma and Virginia's. They took this picture when Bryce and his wife were having their youngest son, Jeffrey, sealed to them. I just thought it was great to see all of them together in one photo. I wonder if there is one of all the girls in their younger years? If so I would love a copy. We (Matas, Nichols, and Caleys) will be down at Virginia and Velma's again on the 19th to celebrate Christmas. Grandpa and Grandma will be there, too! Yeah!! Wish more Iowa folk could have come too. I am missing my Iowa Christmas already!

Our Sledding Adventure!
We had so much fun! This was Maggie's first time sledding. I know she is 4, but it's hard to sled in the rain of Western Washington and the 60 degree weather of west Texas. We can't wait to get some more snow here in Idaho so she can go again. Also, if it snows maybe it will get WARMER! This 15-20 degree weather is getting to me already! Yowza. Emma had fun, too, going down on our laps. She got pretty cold though, so she and I warmed ourselves in the van with hot cocoa and formula. Separately, of course.

Sad News
Unfortunately, Brad had one of our kids hit him in the eye, the good one, with the side of his glasses and scratched his cornea and now he has a flap on it. That was scary, we spent the day in Iowa City today and just got home. We have to go back tomorrow and have it checked and he needs to apply antibiotic ointment 3 times a day until it is fully healed. Guess he'll be a little gun-shy about letting babies play with his glasses again. Nahh! If it makes him happy, he'll do it. He doesn't seem worried.
The Mata Family
You should all be getting this photo of our family soon. As soon as I kick myself in the butt and get my Christmas cards sent out! I wanted to contribute to the new blog but didn't want to take a picture of our family today. The Mata home is sicky today:( Malia was sick on Friday but seemed to be fine on Saturday. This morning she started throwing up again and just looks miserable. Our home teachers came over and gave her a blessing. David was supposed to get the Melchizedek today but since I was stuck home with Malia, the Bishop thought we'd better wait until next week. Soon David can bless our family when we get sick. I hope everyone joins in this family fun and contributes to the blog. I love the opportunites that technology affords us!
Making Christmas Cards For Washington Care Center
We have been busy making Christmas Cards for the Washington Care Center Residents.
We invited some friends to participate in our adventure, IT WAS GREAT! We sang Christmas Carols and hand delivered each card. Some of the residents even joined us going room to room as we visited those who couldn't get up. It was so much fun. It was such a success that we are planning on going Easter Caroling and leaving Easter Eggs or Bunnies that we make as our craft activity. Check out little guy hitching a ride!
